The Sims Feature: @WhatAGreatDai – All Ages of Geek

We interviewed @WhatAGreatDai all about their work for The Sims!

1. How long have you been playing The Sims?

I’ve been playing the Sims since 2009 when they released The Sims 3. Unfortunately, my computer wasn’t up for the challenge and I had to get the Sims 2. I ended up having issues with running that game as well, but I was determined to play the Sims somehow. That’s where I was able to pick up The Sims Life Stories! Not to brag, but I easily beat the game over 20 times.

2. Which game is your favorite?

With out a doubt, The Sims 3 is my top favorite game! The gameplay and flow of the worlds was ahead of its time. I can find myself jumping back into the game with absolutely no mods and truly enjoying it for what it is. I know that I’m known for my Sims 4 CAS and barely post any game play, but The Sims 3 and it’s gameplay molded me into the Simmer I am today.

3. What are some of your best creations and memories from gameplay?

It’s a little hard to pick my best creations! I can say that my best work is in the Sims 4 Create A Sim when I start off with a clear goal for what kind of sim I want to create. My more posh and elegant sims are some of my favorites, though. It’s something about a sim that just breathes elegance that makes me so happy. However, my favorite memories of gameplay are from my Lutz Family story that I started over a year ago. It started with my sim trying to find his way in a new town. He ended up falling for his neighbor and they had a great life together. He wanted a big happy family, but she secretly didn’t want kids at all. Of course, that didn’t end well. But he ended up finding true love and having 5 kids! Sadly, my save ended up corrupting and I lost everything. I had a true connection to that story, and my friends on Twitter were also loving it!

4. What would you tell someone who wants to do what you do?

Believe it or not, but I get asked for advice about this all the time. My advice almost always starts out the same: Just have fun with it! I know it’s hard for some people, but try not to worry about the likes or follows. If people like you and your content, then they will naturally flock to you. You just have to be your unapologetic self. Don’t be afraid to learn knew things or even evolve your way of doing certain tasks. My CAS process has drastically changed over the year that I’ve been in the Sims Community, because I’ve met so many amazing simmers and was able to learn from them. My last bit of advice is if you want to try something new, then just do it! There is no shame in not doing well at first, believe me! I wanted more ways of connecting with my friends in real time, so I jumped into Twitch head first! Recently, I’ve been trying to learn the ins and out of YouTube! Trying new things (and being nervous about it) is what makes us human. If you don’t know where to start, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Friends and google were the greatest teachers for me, and now I get to help others achieve their goals!

5. What are your plans for 2022?

My goals for 2022 are fairly simple. I try not to pack my plate with too many goals. I really want to learn how to post edit my sims pictures! That has been something that I absolutely love seeing on my timelines. I just can’t grasp it just yet, but I am determined to learn to use programs like photoshop to edit! Another goal is to learn to render. I’ve been trying off and on for months, but it’s just not working out for me. But trust me, I will get it one day! My last goal is to become a more consistent streamer and uploading on YouTube. It’s a little hectic being a Stay at Home mom, but he’s getting older and more independent, so things are getting easier. I just feel that my audience deserves more consistency with me, but I also know they don’t hold it against me.

6. Where can people support your work?

If you’d like to support me, the place to start is on Twitch! You can follow me, or even subscribe, at http://twitch.tv/whatagreatdai. I am also on YouTube as What A Great Dai, https://youtube.com/channel/UC2ySAyRvRTxI6soiSUJNrtw…. If you’d like to download some of my free sims, you can visit my Patreon, https://patreon.com/whatagreatdai. And lastly, my favorite, Twitter! Twitter is where I share a lot of my sims pictures, stories, and showcase other simmers. Regardless of the platform, I appreciate any and all support! It puts a huge smile on my face.
